One of the amazing “ah-ha's” I have had since I started the www.CarShowCentral.com website is recognizing the great generosity of car enthusiasts everywhere. It is very amazing and heartwarming to see the large number of Car Shows that donate their proceedings to various national and local charities and community outreach programs. I recently reviewed each of the over 300 car show on my site, and I found that well over 30% of those car shows have listed a specific charity that they are donating either all or a portion of their procedures towards.

    August 14, 2009
I recently returned from a fun-filled car show with my shiny black Mustang GT, I pull into my garage and got ready to put my car under its custom fitted car cover, only to discover a couple of new scratches on my paint, plus a sticky, gooey full handprint on the front fender. How did all these scratches get on my cars? Who left their sticky gooey handprint all over my car?
  • The "dessert" of the car show buffet

I love to attend car shows with my family. It is great to walk around and see each of the cars, all shined-up and looking good. But, there is more to a nice ride other than the outward looks. As they say, it is what’s on the inside that really counts… One of those most-important “inside” qualities is how the car sounds. In my book, that is one of the most critical aspects of having an all-around great show car. Although it may not be part of the judging criteria, it is one of my criteria for an overall great car.

    Enjoy the ride..
A couple of years ago, I bought a cherry, 1967 red Mustang. It was a fun car to drive, and was certainly in good enough shape to enter a car show. But, the hard part was actually finding some car shows in my area...

Oh, the stupid things we do when we are young.
Well, it was 1973, and I was getting ready to get married. The price of gas was getting higher. It went from $.33 per gallon all the way up to $.55 per gallon, and I was going to become a family man. There were gas shortages, lines at gas stations, and rationing of gas. I was going to have responsibility. I needed to be able to support my family. How could I be so immature and irresponsible as to keep my sports car...

The Generosity of Car Enthusiasts

Category: Car Shows

One of the amazing “ah-ha's” I have had since I started the www.CarShowCentral.com website is recognizing the great generosity of car enthusiasts everywhere. It is very amazing and heartwarming to see the large number of Car Shows that donate their proceedings to various national and local charities and community outreach programs.  I recently reviewed each of the over 300 car show on my site, and I found that well over 30% of those car shows have listed a specific charity that they are donating either all or a portion of their procedures towards. What a great community outreach effort!  I also guess that many more car shows are donating proceeds to charities, but just didn’t happen to list it on the website information.

My hat is off to all those car show event organizers who have helped their communities and individuals in such a very fun and family oriented way. Here is a partial list of some of the charities and organizations throughout the US that benefited from car show this year:
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
Local Food Banks
American Cancer Society
United Cerebral Palsy
Local/Community Charities
Fire Departments
American Cancer Society
Ronald McDonald House
Make-A-Wish
Disabled American Veterans
N.J. Blind Citizens Association
Animal Shelters
Humane Societies
Special Olympics
Children Cancer Funds
Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation
Meals on Wheels
Organ Transplant funds
Hospitals
Boys and Girls Clubs
Youth Mission trips
High School Bands
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Muscular Dystrophy
Police and Fireman fund for 9/11
American Heart Association
Blood Drives
Toys for Needy Children
Breast Cancer Research
Kid One Transport
Prevention of Child Abuse
Church Roof Fund
Boys Ranch

And the list goes on and on!  The amount of money that has been donated to charities over the years from car clubs and car show event organizers has to be in the hundreds of thousand, if not millions.

So, a big thank you to every car enthusiast who helped to organize, participate in, or attend a car show this year who donated some funds to local and national charities. By working together, we can make a difference in our communities and in the lives of individuals who are in need of help.
