  • The Generosity of Car Enthusiasts

    October 26, 2009
One of the amazing “ah-ha's” I have had since I started the www.CarShowCentral.com website is recognizing the great generosity of car enthusiasts everywhere. It is very amazing and heartwarming to see the large number of Car Shows that donate their proceedings to various national and local charities and community outreach programs. I recently reviewed each of the over 300 car show on my site, and I found that well over 30% of those car shows have listed a specific charity that they are donating either all or a portion of their procedures towards.
  • Car Show Attendee Etiquette: Six Rules for Enjoying a Scratch Free Car Show

    August 14, 2009
I recently returned from a fun-filled car show with my shiny black Mustang GT, I pull into my garage and got ready to put my car under its custom fitted car cover, only to discover a couple of new scratches on my paint, plus a sticky, gooey full handprint on the front fender. How did all these scratches get on my cars? Who left their sticky gooey handprint all over my car?
  • The "dessert" of the car show buffet

I love to attend car shows with my family. It is great to walk around and see each of the cars, all shined-up and looking good. But, there is more to a nice ride other than the outward looks. As they say, it is what’s on the inside that really counts… One of those most-important “inside” qualities is how the car sounds. In my book, that is one of the most critical aspects of having an all-around great show car. Although it may not be part of the judging criteria, it is one of my criteria for an overall great car.

Oh, the stupid things we do when we are young.
Well, it was 1973, and I was getting ready to get married. The price of gas was getting higher. It went from $.33 per gallon all the way up to $.55 per gallon, and I was going to become a family man. There were gas shortages, lines at gas stations, and rationing of gas. I was going to have responsibility. I needed to be able to support my family. How could I be so immature and irresponsible as to keep my sports car...

Car Show Central Comes Alive!!

Category: Car Show Central Blog

A couple years ago, on impulse, I bought a cherry, 1967 red Mustang.

It was already restored, with a real nice paint job, a beautiful engine, and was in very good condition. It was a fun car to drive, and was certainly in good enough shape to enter into a car show. But, the hard part was actually finding some car shows in my area! I started browsing the internet, and found a couple, here and there. I didn’t have much luck finding any cruise-in events. So, I thought to myself, there should be a better web site that lists all the car shows and cruise-ins in my state, so I can find them and enjoy them, either as a participant, or as a spectator. Well, the thought stayed in the back of my mind for a couple of years. At about the same time, I decided it was time to leave my current job, which had me on the road over 50% of the time. So, being retired for a spell, I could tell I needed something to challenge my mind, and to stay actively engaged in something worthwhile. It was then that I started thinking more about building a web site that was focused on the real car enthusiasts, and would have a database of the car show, cruise-ins and car clubs throughout the US.

Well, it took about 6 months for the dream to become a reality. So, In April, 2009, I launched my www.CarShowCentral.com web site. It is designed to be a fun place for the car enthusiasts. There is some good information on car show locations, cruise-in times and dates, and car clubs. It has valuable resource information, a forum so you can speak your mind and be enlightened, and some fun products that make great gifts for the real car enthusiast.

I hope you enjoy the site as much as I have enjoyed getting it launched…
